The ZTE Blade V8 Pro definitely turned some heads at its CES 2017 announcement. We already managed to secure some hands-on time with the phone and frankly, kind of liked it. The “Pro” moniker already suggested there"s another model coming, but now it is official – ZTE unveiled the basic Blade V8.
Now, you would be forgiven for thinking the pair isn"t related in any way. The ZTE Blade V8 has a radically different exterior. It is still just as elegant, perhaps even more so, thanks to the diamond-cut metal body and 2.5D front glass. The clean front side does offer some similarity, but the back features completely different, horizontal arrangement for the dual-camera setup.

Introduction ZTE continues its march forward to establishing itself on the US smartphone market. That’s why the Chinese company is taking CES 2017 very seriously, and it"s right here in Las Vegas where the company is proudly showcasing their latest device the Blade V8 Pro.
The Blade V8 Pro will be a major weapon in the company’s arsenal in the first half of the year. Why? Because it costs $230 and packs a lot more than you might initially think.

ZTE officially introduces Blade V8 Pro and Hawkeye

Standing under the spotlight at CES in Las Vegas, ZTE introduced two new smartphones. The Blade V8 Pro is the new flagship of the Chinese company and is the first Blade-series device on the American market, while Hawkeye is the name of their crowdsourced project which anyone can preorder through Kickstarter at $199.

The Blade V8 Pro will be unlocked for all networks which is not very common in the US. It comes with a dual camera, fingerprint sensor and 5.5” display.
Lixin Cheng, chairman and CEO of ZTE USA said in a press release:

Not long ago a ZTE device called Blade V8 leaked in Russia in some hands-on images ahead of a purported unveiling at CES this week. And today the same thing has happened to the ZTE Blade V8 Pro, only this time around we"re talking about leaked press renders and a full spec list.

Dual rear cameras are starting to appear on more and more smartphones lately, and the next one to sport such an arrangement is ZTE"s Blade V8. The phone will be made official at CES in early January, but it"s been leaked today in Russia in a few live images.
The Blade V8 is apparently going to be positioned by ZTE as a direct competitor to Huawei"s Honor 8, which is an affordable handset with good specs (and, incidentally, a dual rear camera of its own).
