Child asylum seekers from Jungle camp launch legal bid

Image copyright AFP Image caption The Jungle camp was dismantled at the end of October Dozens of child asylum seekers formerly from the Jungle camp in Calais have launched a legal challenge to Home Secretary Amber Rudd.
Lawyers say 28 of them want written reasons for the determination that it was not in their “best interests” to be relocated to the UK.
They are seeking a judicial review in the High Court early in the new year.
A Home Office spokeswoman said: “It would be inappropriate to comment on ongoing legal proceedings.”
Eleven of those refused entry are aged 14, seven are 15, nine are 16 and one is 17. Sixteen are from Eritrea, 11 from Afghanistan and one is from Sudan.
Eight more waiting to have their cases determined are also involved in the legal bid, media reports say.
They were dispersed to 15 reception centres around France when The Jungle camp was dismantled at the end of October.

Phone-hacking inquiry: Ex-Crimewatch presenter makes legal challenge

Jacqui Hames, who is also an ex-police officer, argues the recommendations of the Leveson phone-hacking inquiry are not being implemented.
She is seeking a judicial review of the terms of the public consultation on part two of the Leveson Inquiry.
“Leveson 2” would examine relationships between police and the press.
The government is expected to make a decision on whether or not that phase will go ahead by 10 January, and it said it was considering its response to the application for a review.
The government is also consulting on Section 40 of the Crime and Courts Act 2013, which offers press organisations incentives to join an independent regulator.
But many newspapers are opposed to Section 40, because it would force them to pay legal costs in cases broug..
