Labour"s Kezia Dugdale says UK is Scotland"s more important union

Media captionKezia Dugdale was interviewed by presenter Gary Robertson on BBC Radio Scotland"s Good Morning Scotland programme Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale said the UK was more important to Scotland than the EU as she set out her plan to “save our Union” in 2017.
The MSP, who was speaking to BBC Radio Scotland"s Good Morning Scotland programme, also reiterated her call for a federal UK and a new Act of Union.
She explained that the EU was important but “not more important” than the UK.
The Scottish Conservatives said voters did not trust Labour and the SNP said Ms Dugdale had nothing new to offer.

Brexit: Civil service faces "bumpy ride" says union leader

The civil service faces a “bumpy ride” making Brexit happen while dealing with other priorities, the union leader who represents Whitehall staff has warned.
Dave Penman, from the FDA union, said more resources were needed or ministers would have to rethink other goals.
“Something is going to have to give, and it is not going to be Brexit,” he told the Guardian newspaper.

Tata Steel makes commitment over Port Talbot, union says

Media captionCommunity union president, Alan Coombs, chairman of the multi-union group at Port Talbot, said it was “good news” Tata Steel has made a commitment to secure jobs and production at Port Talbot and other steelworks across the UK, unions have said.
It could bring an end to eight months of uncertainty for thousands of workers who faced losing their jobs when Tata"s UK business was put up for sale.
Community Union made the announcement following talks with Tata and other unions Unite and GMB on Wednesday.
But workers still have to agree to it and will be balloted in the new year.
