There are lots of devices for you if you want to own a smartwatch. But if you are tech geek and you are really into sports then you better check out what Garmin announced at CES – three new high-end athletic watches. The Fenix 5 debuted alongside its bigger edition Fenix 5X and the Fenix 5S, the first device specifically designed for women.
All three watches have GPS and GLONASS to measure metrics like pace, distance, speed and pulse and have preset sports and actions incl. running, biking, hiking, triathlons, paddle boarding and even golf. Google confirms that it"s launching two flagship Android Wear smartwatches in early 2017

Two reports from a few months ago claimed that Google was working on two high-end smartwatches of its own, which were supposed to debut alongside the Android Wear 2.0 release this year. But then the new version of the company"s wearable OS got delayed until 2017, and so we assumed the launch of the watches was postponed for that reason.
It turns out that"s exactly what happened. Today Jeff Chang, Google"s product manager of Android Wear, has confirmed that the company is developing two flagship smartwatches which will be on the market in the first quarter of next year (so before March 31).
These will be the first devices to launch running Android Wear 2.0, but then throughout 2017 we"ll reportedly see more watches powered by the new OS version, from other partners. Some of those may even present their wearables at CES in January, while others will wait for Baselworld in March.

Motorola won"t be launching new smartwatches in near future

If you are a Motorola fan and are waiting for the company to release a new smartwatch, there"s some bad news: the company has confirmed that there are no plans for a new smartwatch in the near future. Nothing is coming before the launch of Android Wear 2.0, which is expected sometime early next year.
The confirmation came from Shakil Barkat, head of global product development at Motorola. We don"t “see enough pull in the market to put [a new smartwatch] out at this time,” the executive said. “Wearables do not have broad enough appeal for us to continue to build on it year after year.”
There was, however, no word on exactly when Motorola will launch its next smartwatch. “We believe the wrist still has value and there will be a point where they provide value to consumers more than they do today,” Barkat said.
