Official: Qualcomm launching Snapdragon 835 next week at CES

Qualcomm officially announced via a series of tweets the debut of Snapdragon 835 at a CES keynote next week. The highly anticipated chipset will come with Quick Charge 4 technology which will give devices 5 hours of battery life with 5 minutes of charging. Qualcomm also claims that a smartphone with the CPU could be charged from 0 to 50% within 15 minutes.
The Technologies division of the San Diego-based company stated that every fourth consumer thinks time for charging is too long and their engineers aimed to solve specifically this problem.
QSnapdragon 835 will provide consistent performance and battery usage both to devices with USB Type-C and USB Power Delivery. The chipset will also have divided charge current for more efficient thermal dissipation in order to optimize power delivery.

Google confirms that it"s launching two flagship Android Wear smartwatches in early 2017

Two reports from a few months ago claimed that Google was working on two high-end smartwatches of its own, which were supposed to debut alongside the Android Wear 2.0 release this year. But then the new version of the company"s wearable OS got delayed until 2017, and so we assumed the launch of the watches was postponed for that reason.
It turns out that"s exactly what happened. Today Jeff Chang, Google"s product manager of Android Wear, has confirmed that the company is developing two flagship smartwatches which will be on the market in the first quarter of next year (so before March 31).
These will be the first devices to launch running Android Wear 2.0, but then throughout 2017 we"ll reportedly see more watches powered by the new OS version, from other partners. Some of those may even present their wearables at CES in January, while others will wait for Baselworld in March.
Google"s watches will not be Pixel-branded as you may have expected, instead they ..

That 4G-capable Xiaomi laptop launching on Friday will be called Mi Notebook Pro

A couple of days ago Xiaomi revealed that it would be holding a special event on December 23, and since a laptop was featured on the invite, it"s clear what it"s all going to be about. That said, so far nothing"s been known about this new Mi Notebook, except for the fact that it will come with 4G LTE connectivity.
Now though a new leak out of China tells us that the new device will be called Mi Notebook Pro, so it won"t in fact be just a 4G-capable version of the already available Mi Notebook Air.
Instead, the new laptop is said to earn its “Pro” moniker by packing some pretty high-end specs such as a 4K display, Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor, Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M graphics card, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 512GB SSD.
If all of those components were screaming “expensive!” in your mind, you weren"t wrong. The Mi Notebook Pro is rumored to start at CNY 6,000, which right now means $863 or €826. That"s a lot more than the Mi Notebook Air"s introductory..

Motorola won"t be launching new smartwatches in near future

If you are a Motorola fan and are waiting for the company to release a new smartwatch, there"s some bad news: the company has confirmed that there are no plans for a new smartwatch in the near future. Nothing is coming before the launch of Android Wear 2.0, which is expected sometime early next year.
The confirmation came from Shakil Barkat, head of global product development at Motorola. We don"t “see enough pull in the market to put [a new smartwatch] out at this time,” the executive said. “Wearables do not have broad enough appeal for us to continue to build on it year after year.”
There was, however, no word on exactly when Motorola will launch its next smartwatch. “We believe the wrist still has value and there will be a point where they provide value to consumers more than they do today,” Barkat said.

H1 SmartBand from Meizu said to be launching on December 6

If you recall, Meizu recently confirmed that it"ll be unveiling a new smartphone on December 6 – the m5 Note. However, if reports out of the company"s home country of China are to go by, there will be another Meizu product that will be made official on that day.
The firm is said to unveil a smartband, dubbed H1 SmartBand. Following are some of its leaked pictures:
Functionality-wise, the H1 SmartBand is like any other fitness band (telling time, counting steps, and measuring user"s heart rate), but – according to Meizu – it"s the battery life that differentiates this band from others.
The device reportedly uses contact charging, and carries a price tag of RMB 229, which translates into around $33 at current exchange rates.
