The Alcatel A3 XL is a new budget handset with a whopping 6-inch display

TCL seems to be keeping its efforts on the budget scene alive and well in 2017, now with the launch of a new “A” family of smartphones. The exact wording used to describe it is “a new premium range of affordable mobile devices” and while, we remain skeptical on the first point, competitive pricing seems almost guaranteed given Alcatel"s recent track record.
Alcatel A3 XL
Kickstarting the new family is the Alcatel A3 XL. If we had to point out one definitive feature on it, it would definitely be the large 6-inch IPS LF panel. It is housed in what appears to be a plastic shell, measuring 165 x 82.5 x 7.9 mm.
Unsurprisingly, no premium materials are actually part of the mix. On a positive note, the body appears to be available in quite a few colorful shades on the frame and textures on the back.
Back to the question of specs, the aforementioned display only has HD resolution at its disposal, so sharpness might not be great.
Under the hood, there is a MediaTek MT8735B quad-core c..

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to have 4K display and Bixby AI assistant

Samsung is reportedly working on its own voice-activated AI system, as we heard before. But to differentiate from Alexa, Cortana and Siri it will have a male voice and will be named Bixby.
We are expecting to hear from him (pun intended) in March when the Galaxy S8 is revealed but according to our source it will also be a crucial part of Galaxy Note 8. The phone, we now hear, is also going to have a UHD 4K resolution display which will be tremendous step ahead for an enhanced virtual reality experience.
The source also says that more information about Galaxy Note 8 will be available after the report Samsung is releasing later this month about the Note 7 fires.
It is rumored that the cause wasn’t a battery issue but an electronic hardware design problem.

Samsung files two new smartwatch patents, one featuring a foldable display

Samsung appears to be working on a pair of interesting new wearables. Аt least that is what a recently unearthed set of patent filings hints at. The first device, mentioned in these documents looks to be a more sporty type of accessory, likely complete with a single thin strap to hold it in place.
Said strap is described as a rather interesting input control. The user can interact with the wearable by shifting its position, relative to the strap. A second strap could also potentially be introduced to the setup for an extended or at least different input scheme. The patent also provides graphical representations of some suggested usage scenarios for the device, including wrapping it around your neck, or hanging it on an object, likely with varied functional intentions.
But it is the second patent that arguably spikes more interest. It showcases something similar to a bracelet, based around a foldable panel. The Korean giant has been busy patenting various bendable and flexible technol..

Galaxy Note7"s Y-OCTA display headed to the Galaxy S8

Samsung is reportedly bringing the Y-OCTA display tech, first seen on the Galaxy Note7, to the upcoming Galaxy S8 flagship. Even better, Samsung may end up using the exact same display on the S8.
The Galaxy S8 has been subjected to some wild speculations over the past few months. The interest towards the upcoming flagship is huge post the Note7 global recall. Recently we heard the S8 may end up using an RGB AMOLED screen, an arrangement the company last used the Galaxy S II. It was unclear if it will be put on the 5.7″ or the 6.2″ flavors of the S8, or both.
Today, a source is claiming Samsung may end up using the same 5.7″ Super AMOLED panels with Quad HD resolution and Y-OCTA technology that were put on the retired Note7 phablet.
The Y-OCTA is a new manufacturing process that allows Samsung to cut display costs and thickness by embedding the touch sensors within the screen panel itself, instead of putting a touch layer between the panel and the protective glass. This way Samsung i..
