Samsung Bixby will be the Galaxy S8 new virtual assistant

Samsung is working on its new virtual assistant set to debut on the Galaxy S8 and it"ll be called Bixby. That"s not exactly new information, as it was initially rumored back in November last year. Nevertheless, it"s now listed on Samsung"s official website, giving it that much more credibility than before.
Bixby will be integrated in Samsung"s own Android apps as well as Samsung Pay Mini. The latter will be a lighter, stripped-down version of the company"s mobile payment system. It will be able to make online payments only, whereas the full-blown version of Samsung Pay also allows transactions in physical stores.
For now, that"s all the information available regarding the two new additions to be found on the upcoming Galaxy S8. Expect Samsung"s newest flagship ot arrive in April.
Rumor has it, Samsung will make the phone official on April 18, instead of its original plan for February at the Mobile World Congress.

Samsung wants to sell 100 million Galaxy J phones this year and 20 million Galaxy A handsets

Earlier today we told you that Samsung is reportedly looking to sell 60 million Galaxy S8 units this year, and now it"s time for us to talk about the company"s mid-range and lower-end lines in the same context.
A new report from Samsung"s home country of South Korea claims that the company expects to move around 20 million Galaxy A handsets in 2017. Not only that, but the sales target for the lower-end Galaxy J series has allegedly been set at a whopping 100 million units for this year.
This information reportedly comes from “a person briefed on the matter”, but don"t forget to take it with a pinch of salt regardless. And even if these are actual internal sales goals for Samsung, that obviously doesn"t automatically mean they will be met. Still, it"s interesting to see the company be so ambitious about its non-flagship device lines.
The Galaxy A (2017) series handsets were unveiled last week, and all come with water and dust resistance, a feature previo..

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) trying out Android 7.0 Nougat over at Geekbench

The 2016 Galaxy A series was promised an update to 7.0 Nougat and a version of the software is already under testing – a Galaxy A5 (2016) posted a score to the Geekbench database running Android 7.0.
Note that this was the version with an Exynos 7580 Octa chipset, something that may have an effect on timing (the A5 2016 model is also available with a Snapdragon 615 chipset).
We poked around to see if any other phones of the 2016 A lineup put in a score. The most recent results we found were still on 6.0.1. Still, Samsung will probably release the upadte for all devices at once, that’s how it updated them to 6.0 Marshmallow after all.

Report says Samsung aiming to sell 60 million Galaxy S8 units this year

According to a new report out of Samsung"s home country of South Korea, the company is aiming to sell around 60 million units of its upcoming Galaxy S flagship smartphone (likely to be called the Galaxy S8) in 2017.
“The tech giant has requested its partners to supply (parts) based on the tech giant’s 60 million shipment goal,” the report quotes industry sources as saying.
The 60 million figure, if you compare, is higher than the yearly shipment numbers for some of the recent Galaxy S flagships: the Galaxy S5 (45 million), the Galaxy S6 (45 million), and the Galaxy S7 (48 million, expected).
The report also notes that the Galaxy S8 will be launched sometime in April (which is inline with what we"ve been hearing recently), adding that the mass production of the device will begin a month prior – in March.

Week 1 in review: Galaxy S8 rumors, Nokia and BlackBerry plans for 2017

CES or no CES, the stream of Samsung Galaxy S8 rumors is flowing steady. This week has brought us a release date, a hint at a Continuum-like feature, and a live photo, which may very well be a fake. Or it might be real, given that the phone is supposedly already in testing in China.
In the "tangible" folder we have the announcement of the Asus Zenfone AR this week in Las Vegas. A Google Tango-capable 5.7-incher with 8GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 821 inside, it also supports Google Daydream. You can"t be Tango-Daydreaming, though – only one at a time. Asus also pulled the wraps off an iPhone 7 Plus-like dual-camera Zenfone 3 Zoom – unlike the Zenfone Zoom with its periscope 3x mechanism, the Zenfone 3 Zoom has a 2.3x range, courtesy of two separate cameras.
Also at CES, Xiaomi unveiled an even hotter looking white version of the already scorching Mi Mix bringing the number of borderless flagships available outside of China to zero – the Mi Mix will still be exclusive to i..
