SanDisk is known for pushing the limits of portable flash storage – usually capacity, but this time it went for speed. The SanDisk Extreme Pro USB 3.1 promises SSD-like speeds in a thumb drive form factor.
Using a USB 3.1 interface, the drive offers read speeds up to 420MB/s and write speeds up to 380MB/s. That’s fast enough to transfer a 4K movie in just 15 seconds points out SanDisk while we’d like to point out that these are more SATA SSD speeds (some M.2 drives get into the gigabytes per second range).

Lenovo brings its Phab2 Pro "Tango" smartphone to China

After launching it in the US and Europe, Lenovo has brought the Tango-enabled Phab2 Pro smartphone to its home country. The device carries an RMB 3,999 (around $575) price tag, and will go on sale in China starting December 26. Both gold and gray color variants will be available.

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) first unveiled the Bluetooth 5 spec back in June, when it was still a work in progress. Today, however, the new spec has been finalized by the industry group and it"s ready to be put to use by device makers across the world.
Bluetooth 5 comes with twice the bandwidth, four times the range, and eight times the broadcasting message capacity of Bluetooth 4.2 when used with low energy devices. The maximum speed is now 2Mbps, up from 1Mbps. The bandwidth can however be decreased in order to allow for a 4x longer range while maintaining similar low power requirements. The spec is flexible in this regard, with developers being able to make the best choices for their products" specific use cases.
Bluetooth 5 supports larger data packets than its predecessors, working with 255-octet packages and not 31-octet ones. This means more efficient use of the crowded 2.4GHz band, with less broadcast time required to complete tasks.

Samsung has started pushing out a new Nougat beta update to eligible Galaxy S7 and S7 edge units, making it the third build that the South Korean company has rolled out as part of the beta program.
Weighing in at around 530MB, the update brings along Android security patch for the month of December. Several other changes are included as well, including addition of Samsung Pass and the Samsung Note app, as well as an auto brightness button in Quick Panel.
The position of the Close All button has also been changed. Aside from this, the update also features some stability-related improvements and regular bug fixes. With offline folders, you can mark an entire folder to be synced and all files will be downloaded and periodically synced when you have an internet connection.
