Just in: Lenovo P2 hands-on

We have a soft spot for phones rocking a large battery and an efficient chipset. With its 5,100mAh power reserve and a 14nm Snapdragon 625, the Lenovo P2 arrives with a simple promise: it will last more than a solid day of usage.
One of the biggest complaints surrounding smartphones is their battery life. It’s just not what it used to be when the feature phones were king. And that’s to be expected considering how much more smartphones do for us. So Lenovo is right on the money with the P2 so far, but it’s hardly enough to win over people’s hearts.
The Lenovo P2 drops the Vibe moniker from its predecessor, which we’ll take as a sign of the company wanting to streamline the user’s experience. That’s evident right off the bat with the design. The phone has borrowed its design cues from the Vibe P1, but it feels more premium than the P1. However, the gold color doesn’t help it in this respect, as far as we’re concerned.
On the hardware side, we are pleasantly surprised that Lenovo has k..

Lenovo unveils an Echo alternative

The last holiday season was so successful for voice-activated devices that Lenovo decided to jump the bandwagon and join the headliners Amazon and Google. The company introduced its own Smart Assistant with Amazon Alexa. The device looks a lot like Amazon Echo, but comes in prettier colors. Lenovo built the device in collaboration with Amazon which makes the similarity not that surprising.
The Alexa-voiced Smart Assistant is cylindrical device with a silver upper part and vivid colored lower portion. The upper part with the controls is designed to look like it is levitating. Lenovo implemented 8 360-degree microphones with echo cancellation and noise suppression. There’s also a version with Harman Kardon audio.
Lenovo Smart Assistant • Harman Kardon edition in Black
The device picks up commands from up to 16 feet or almost 5 meters which isn’t very useful if you try to tell it something from the other room.
Google also has a personal assistant but the lack of a sexy female name for..

Lenovo announces new laptops at CES 2017

Today is a big day for Lenovo in Las Vegas. Ahead of the Consumers Electronics Show the company unveiled three devices – the ThinkPad X1 Yoga, the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon and X1 Tablet which is like the Yoga but without a physical keyboard (though there is an option to add such as a module).
So let’s get into detail for each one of them. ThinkPad X1 Yoga comes with 7th gen Intel CPU and Lenovo implemented additional biometric authentication with IR camera with face recognition support and Match-on-Chip touch fingerprint sensor for another layer of security.
The stylus is also updated so it now feels even more like a pen. The tip is with soft elastomer which gives greater friction with the screen and thus creates more natural writing experience. The 14” OLED display has stunning colors and the keyboard now retracts fully flat so the X1 Yoga can feel more like a tablet, even if it’s too heavy to get the tablet feeling.
And what about the X1 laptop? X1 Carbon has the latest Intel Kaby L..

Lenovo unveils the 500 Multimedia Controller with Windows 10 gesture support

Whether it’s for your HTPC, your smart TV or even console, a good wireless keyboard can be hard to find. The Lenovo 500 Multimedia Controller takes a step into the modern world with a large multi-touch trackpad with Windows 10 gesture support.
Don’t see it? It’s the entire keyboard! That works so much better than the trackpads (ball or optical) of previous Lenovo controllers. The ergonomics have been improved to make the Multimedia Controller comfortable to hold and easy to pick up too (so no fumbling in the dark of your multimedia den).
Lenovo 500 Multimedia Controller
The controller is designed for two-thumb typing and is small enough to stash away in your laptop back if you need it for presentations. It weighs 141g and has a range of 20m. Its battery should last a good 8 months, so it’s not another portable thing that requires constant charging either.
The Lenovo 500 Multimedia Controller will be available in March for $55.

New Lenovo Yoga Book version running Chrome OS will debut next year

The Lenovo Yoga Book 2-in-1 was unveiled at IFA this summer and it managed to instantly turn heads thanks to its unique design that"s devoid of a traditional physical keyboard. Instead, it comes with a pressure-sensitive surface where they keyboard should be, which you can use as a keyboard, but it"s also possible to jot down notes and stuff on it using the Real Pen stylus.
So far Lenovo has been selling the Yoga Book with either Windows 10 or Android preinstalled, but starting in 2017 there will be a third option – a Yoga Book running Chrome OS. This was confirmed by Jeff Meredith, Lenovo"s vice president and general manager of the Android and Chrome Computing Business Group.
Apparently the company saw a lot of interest for such a device, and it"s started working on it. For now there are no exact release details (or pricing information), but it"s at least good to know that a Chrome OS powered Yoga Book is in fact coming. Meredith said the Real Pen stylus wil..

Just in: Lenovo Moto M

The Lenovo Moto M was announced a month ago, and its popularity is growing steadily ever since. The mid-ranger leaked quite a few times before, teasing various features before its premiere.
Even though on paper the Moto M does not offer anything to make it stand out in the crowd of mid-rangers, it still made it to lots of wish lists for the holiday season. We surely are curious why people are loving the Moto M so much and we"ll find out very soon.
Lenovo"s Moto M key strengths include an all-metal body, a lively 5.5″ IPS display, Helio P10 chipset with 3 or 4GB of RAM, and a very good camera package with 16MP rear and 8MP front snappers. The rear-mounted fingerprint sensor is a first for the Moto series, but a long-awaited change.
The Moto M"s exterior seems worthy of a phone of much higher standing. The design is all-metal and seamless as the back fades gently into the side frame, which eventually ends on a chamfer right next to the screen glass.
The antenna bands a..

Lenovo Phab2 Pro review: Tango One

Introduction The Lenovo Phab2 Pro is not just your average smartphone. And no, we"re not referring to the huge display as a defining feature. It"s the first phone to come with Google"s Tango platform and it"s also one of the first phones Lenovo is launching in the US under its own brand.
So what is Tango? Simply put – a window into a new level of augmented reality. Thanks to an array of camera sensors and gyroscope information, the phone is able to accurately track its own position in all three dimensions. This allows it to accurately display augmented reality (AR) elements laid over the live feed from the camera viewfinder. It"s a mish-mash of AR and VR and Google is betting on it as the technology of the future.
Lenovo is a popular laptop manufacturer who took over IBM"s personal computer business back in 2005. But not everybody knows them for making smartphones – at least not in the the US. But they are and trying to replicate the successful IBM deal,..
