We already know that Samsung is working on a foldable smartphone that might be marketed under the name Galaxy X. And now, the monikers Galaxy X1 and Galaxy X1 Plus have leaked.

"Bonfire of children"s rights" Bill opposed

Image copyright tatyana_tomsickova Image caption The Bill will affect children in foster care and children"s homes A Bill described as “a bonfire of child protection rights”, which would let councils opt out of key legal duties to children, is being debated on Tuesday.
The Children and Social Work Bill would let local councils apply to set aside children"s rights and checks on care to try out innovative ways of working.
The government argues it is a bold approach to removing red tape.
But campaigners say allowing councils to opt out of these long-standing duties is risky and unnecessary.
The legal duties affected by the Bill relate to nearly all the social care services children receive from local authorities laid down in numerous acts of Parliament
These include statutory rights on child protection, family support, children"s homes and fostering, support to care leavers and services for disabled children.

Increase women MPs or face fines, parties told

Image copyright PA Political parties must face fines if they do not ensure at least 45% of general election candidates are female, MPs have recommended.
The Women and Equalities Committee said the fact that 30% of current MPs were women represented a “serious democratic deficit”, for “no good reason”.
It said the law must change after the 2020 general election, if that figure “does not increase significantly”.
The government said it was considering the recommendations.
There are currently 195 women in the House of Commons. The cross-party committee"s report said the meant the UK was ranked 48th in the world, in terms of female representations in equivalent institutions.

“It is beyond special. I can say that it is the most special moment of my career because it is the perfect ending to it, to everything that I have done. As the award title says, it is a recognition to a whole career. So I am happy to look back and to see that it was all worth it, and to do so with my kids next to me, in an evening that is all about football. It is a most special date.
“I had no idea. I thought I would leave the car at the entrance of the hall and go unnoticed. But all of a sudden, I come in and I even see some footballers staring at me. It was the case with [Luka] Modric, for example: he looked at me, looked again and asked if it was really me. I said I was and he gave me a big hug. Facebook videos will have ads in the middle

Do you hate those pre-roll ads on YouTube that start before the video you want to see and can only be skipped after a few seconds? Good news, then – Mark Zuckerberg hates them too. The bad news? Well, his social network is planning to introduce another type of ads that might prove to be even more annoying.
We"re talking about mid-roll ads. These are apparently coming to Facebook videos, and they will interrupt what you"re watching. The mid-roll ads will be shown after you"ve watched a video for 20 seconds. Thankfully they will only be available for videos that are at least 90 seconds long, but they still have the potential to make people stop watching Facebook videos after those initial 20 seconds.
Such mid-roll ads have so far been tested for live videos, but the new rollout will include all videos on Facebook. Facebook will be sharing ad revenue with the content creators, keeping 45% of all sales for itself – just like YouTube does. For now, this is reportedly just e..

All of Colombia was in solidarity with the Brazilian people, with the team and we made some very nice gestures, but what we wanted was, in the midst of that great tragedy, to help this mourning. We still have a strong link to Chapecoense and continue to communicate with them. In addition to that we will play the Recopa this year where the Libertadores champion, Atletico Nacional and Chapecoense, who won the South American Cup will play and we are doing some activities in favor of solidarity, respect and brotherhood between football friends. Moto G5 Plus hands-on images and specs leak, it looks just like the rumored Moto X (2017)

Last month we saw a couple of different leaks of a device that was said to be the Moto X (2017). First there were a some hands-on shots, then a bunch of renders. A contradictory report claimed that phone would actually be sold as the Moto C, but a new leak that appeared today reveals that it was actually the upcoming Moto G5 Plus all along. This should obviously serve as the successor to the G4 Plus from last year.
Someone is selling a G5 Plus prototype through an online marketplace in Romania, and the listing helpfully includes both the live pictures you can see below as well as a full list of specs and expected release date.
Let"s start with that – the Moto G5 Plus is allegedly coming in March, which means it may become official at MWC in late February. Corbyn: Labour not wedded to EU free movement

Samsung Bixby will be the Galaxy S8 new virtual assistant

Bixby will be integrated in Samsung"s own Android apps as well as Samsung Pay Mini. The latter will be a lighter, stripped-down version of the company"s mobile payment system. Samsung wants to sell 100 million Galaxy J phones this year and 20 million Galaxy A handsets

Earlier today we told you that Samsung is reportedly looking to sell 60 million Galaxy S8 units this year, and now it"s time for us to talk about the company"s mid-range and lower-end lines in the same context.
A new report from Samsung"s home country of South Korea claims that the company expects to move around 20 million Galaxy A handsets in 2017. Not only that, but the sales target for the lower-end Galaxy J series has allegedly been set at a whopping 100 million units for this year.
This information reportedly comes from “a person briefed on the matter”, but don"t forget to take it with a pinch of salt regardless. And even if these are actual internal sales goals for Samsung, that obviously doesn"t automatically mean they will be met. Still, it"s interesting to see the company be so ambitious about its non-flagship device lines.
